Update: The Argentine government has repealed the reciprocity fee for American citizens. For any American citizen traveling to Argentina, this post is no longer valid as of March 24, 2016. Click here for more details. However, Canadian and Australian citizens are still required to prepay. Please follow the following instructions if you are Canadian or Australian.
Important news for anyone flying into Buenos Aires: Argentina has just announced that it is changing how it collects its “reciprocity fee” from Canadian and Australian visitors (it is called a “reciprocity fee” because Argentina only charges it to citizens of countries that charge a similar fee to their foreign visitors).
Argentina is now going to require all tourists from the Canada, and Australia who arrive to Argentina by airport, land, or cruise to pre-pay this fee via the internet prior to arrival and to have a printed copy of the receipt showing payment.
Formerly, the fee could be paid upon arrival at the airport. When this change takes effect (see dates below), travelers from these countries will have to bring with them the printed receipt showing payment of the fee via the internet and will not be able to pay it upon arrival. (Please note: Argentina’s reciprocity fees now have to be paid for those arriving to any point of entry, such as Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, El Calafate, Bariloche, Mendoza, Iguazu, or any other entry point.)
The change does not take effect immediately. The relevant start dates are:
Nearly all of our travelers arrive to Buenos Aires via EZE (Ezeiza), which is much larger than AEP (a primarily domestic airport).
To pay this fee, please visit the following site:
https://reciprocidad.provincianet.com.ar/
The good news is that this new way of paying the reciprocity fee should help speed up the time it takes to pass through immigration when arriving to Argentina. If you have any questions about this fee, please contact us!
